You can make your living room stylish by adding a splash of color and long drapes. Choose contrasting colors by matching them to your furniture and add dimension.

Great curtains make a room not only for living, but also to show-off with pride, but that involves spending a lot of money. Thus, using color block curtains is a beautiful way of enhancing the look of your room in an approachable manner.

Consider two colors at least and you can buy ready-made drapery. Decide on the design of your choice or come with your own ideas.  Even adding a neutral drape at the bottom is a subtle way of anchoring a room. You can choose broad strips offering a bolder look, but ensure they have vertical color blocking. Such color block curtains are a distinct way of framing windows.

If you want to do it by yourself, you can try your hand:

Things required:

  • curtain panels
  • sewing machine
  • fusible web or matching thread
  • scissors
  • curtain panels or fabric additional set
  • Firstly, measure where you want the main panel to be inserted and cut straight. Leave for the seam ½ inch as allowance while taking measurement. However, while cutting, do not throw away the part you cut, as it may be of use later.
  • Cut the second color panel leaving the same seam allowance of ½ inch on both sides. Attach the smaller panel to the bigger panel and it must appear fused.
  • Check the width is correct and sew it at the bottom edge and continue for the curtain other panels.
  • Hang the panels finally; you have your color block curtains, custom-made.
